A retired Air Force officer and retired civil servant with multiple graduate degrees in various social studies, experience with owning a small business, and five years of traditional classroom experience in secondary education.

Served as a daily substitute for middle and high school students as well as for a placement school where 100% of the students were special needs and/or on an IEP. Taught full-time summer school - remedial math - for the placement school during this same period.
• Began the assignment mid-marking period with no pre-planned lessons; created lesson plans for three separate courses of study including one “College in High School” (CHS) course accredited through the University of Pittsburgh. • Conducted a mock constitutional convention in which the students free-played actual delegates from the 1787 convention. • Conducted mock Supreme Court hearing based on actual 10th Circuit Court case. • Requested to serve as a mentor in government and judicial subject areas for students participating in Student Congress and debate competitions. • Presented first-hand accounts of the events of September 11, 2001 and first-hand experiences as a military veteran on Veterans Day to students as special lessons. • Collaborated with two paraprofessionals and three members of the Special Education team daily to provide supplemental support.
